I took the essay Aug. 4th and I haven't received any news from Oracle (except for the Assignment grading delay notification e-mails). I understand there is a high volume of pending assignments, and I don't mind waiting for, what, 9-12 weeks? However, there are two issues bothering me:

1. From what I read in this forum, there are people who took the essay later than I did, and already have their grading. I would expect the process to be first come first served.

2. In case of failing the assignment, you are expected to correct and return your work in one month. After two or three months of waiting, are we supposed to have all the details of our project fresh in mind?

Right now I feel disappointed, and agree with other posters: This project was supposed to be an enjoyable learning experience, and it was, right until this grading delay.

Thank you.

Just keep sending emails to Oracle until you get some satisfactory answer. That's what I would do.

Just so you know,

I never received an email, and I too got the grading delay email.

Go to certview.oracle.com and check on your status there. You might have already been graded a while ago..

In my case, I uploaded my assignment at 2011.06.04 and took my essay at 2011.06.09, but I got the PASS notification at 2011.10.05. It's almost 4 months. During the waiting period, I wrote many emails to oracle. However, they always appologized and want me to wait. So the only way you can do is to wait patientfully....

Thank you all for your answers.

Like I said, I don't mind waiting for months, but why others have to wait only for 2 weeks?

I'll keep checking certview and person everyday.

17 weeks, 4 months... And nothing. Every month i send a email for them asking, and they answer me to wait more 4 weeks. This time i sended the email and they answered me to wait without specify a time. I think this mean "Don't send more emails for us, and stay waiting, jerk".

I'm not happy.

That would not help with me. If I was you I would send mails more frequently: I would start with each week and increase to daily if I don't have my result after another month. You have to pay a lot of money for this certification, so Oracle should give a decent service. 4 months to grade an assignment is completely unacceptable!

I have been waiting for grading only 14 weeks. Others in this forum say they have been waiting for 20 weeks.

I think we are in a "frog-in-hot-water" situation: you don't realize a big change because you perceive it as small changes that, with time, add up. These long delays are surreal. Had you sign up for this certification if, from the beginning, Oracle would have said: it's going to take 12 weeks for grading? Probably not. And remember what Roel said (and I agree with him): this is a very expensive certification process.

And if someone is thinking about the rush-hour grading volume due to the mandatory training requirement, I am not buying that anymore. Maybe it was an issue for some time, but the fact that people are getting grades within two weeks, tells me that the requirement is not relevant anymore.

Now, from what others in this forum are saying, it's impossible to engage in an effective conversation with Oracle about this matter. It seems that the only response from the company is always "keep waiting". What I want to say is that the size difference between a multi-million dollar company and a small group of individuals is the reason these delays exist. Imagine a large corporation places a purchase order worth thousands, and Oracle does not deliver the requested services or goods on time. They delay for , say, 4 weeks. Do you think the customer would settle for "keep waiting"? Do you think Oracle itself would be just sitting there? I think they would appoint a service agent to go personally to the customer, and apologize, offer a discount on future purchases, etc. Why? Because Oracle perceives that keeping the customer would bring future income, and it doesn't want the bad press.

So, we are in a hopeless situation. For a person, $300 just for exams is a lot of money, for Oracle that's nothing, so why care?

If Oracle had any dignity, it would accept the mea culpa and refund the fees paid for those waiting for more than 12 weeks, grading or not. Let's say you finally get your grade after 20 weeks. Is that it? Is it going to be business as usual? Will you be planning your next Oracle cert? If so, what are the effects for the company? Can you get away with an unacceptable delay with no consequences? That's too much for me.

Thanks.

I interested in the current grading delay. So, if you received your assignment grade
in November, how long did you wait after your submission? (I'm at 4-weeks.). Also,
in your opinion, what is the best way to meet the "live" course requirement? Thanks.

Hi Jim!

I've been waiting for 3 weeks. In my case Oracle didn't break its promise to evaluate my submission in 4-6 weeks.
I didn't quite understand your question about mandatory course requirement, please elaborate. If you're asking about
how to achieve this requirement then a would recommend you to take a live virtual course. You can find a lot of information
about it on the oracle's site.

Best regards,
Dmitry

I sent my assignment 29 Nov, and I also took the essay that day. On the pearson VUE account my status became PASS this monday (1 week), but I recieved no email from Oracle and nothing changed in Oracle certview page. Maybe there's only a problem with their notification systems. Did any of you check Pearson VUE history page?
Oh, and I had to do the course requirement (I took the LVC version), hope this isn't a factor.

Regards,
Martin

Hi Martin!
1 week is too quick for Oracle

I was notified about my grade exactly through the e-mail. I visited the pearson's site only after has been notified.
So In your case I would wait 1-2 weeks and if you find no mail from the certification team please do not hesitate
to write them.

Best regards,
Dmitry

Hi
For what its worth, I did the essay September 12th.
I got an email about the grading delay after 6 weeks
I finally got (successful) result Nov 25th.

Meanwhile a colleague who did the essay after me got a result in 2 weeks

So, try and relax. It will come (in my experience)
