Is still worth of learning Java?

Hi all,

I am bit new to this site and just now I have started to learn java in order to change my career.

Currently I hold MSc in Information Technology Management which is basically not related to any programming language but done some bit in my 1st year BSc.

I got Head First Java book through AMAZON and started to learn. I am bit confused because people say that Java is not worth for get some jobs.
Any advice guys?

What people say Java isn't good for getting a job? What do they think you should learn instead?

The fact that most undergraduate studies includes Java says to me that Java still holds a place in business.

They say that If I learn java, it is hard to get job as a java programmer. It makes me bit confused whether to learn java or not.....Ooops

That's funny. I've always experienced it as more easy to get a job as a Java programmer, ever since I learned Java.

Wouldn't learning Java be essential for programming in Java? Otherwise I think I'll start a new career in law, if I don't have to learn the law to practice it.
