Beginning Java Games

Hi all,

I am currently trying to make a game and I'm struggling with loading images. For some reason (or whatever reason) I can't do it.

First of all, the title should be more descriptive. But here's my answer.
I don't work with icons very much, but I do know how to load a regular image:

try {
    unitImg = ImageIO.read(new File("<image file directory>"));
} catch (IOException e) {
    
}
