I have passed the Oracle Database SQL Expert Exam ( 1Z0-047 )

Yesteday I passed the Oracle Database SQL Expert Exam ( 1Z0-047 ). I scored 70 % on the exam. It was a very hard exam, I recommend a thorough preparation.

This certification is very challenging and at the same time very rewarding for the SQL insights I got from it.

The main source I used was:

OCA Oracle Database SQL Expert Exam Guide (Exam 1Z0-047) by April Wells.

Other useful material:

Oracle9i SQL Reference

Two topics I found in the exam and that are not covered in this book:

DEFERRABLE Clause in transactions.

Defining the view using the WITH CHECK OPTION clause.

The time is enough but do not spare much time on each question.

I did not used any Oracle database system for practicing purposes.

I also took this exam last Friday and passed (just). I used OCA Oracle Database SQL Certified Expert Exam Guide (Exam 1Z0-047) (Osborne Oracle Press Series) - Steve O'Hearn to prepare which comes with a practice test and another free one available online.

I found the end of chapter questions very simple but the real exam is a lot harder.

I have many years experience using SQL but on Sybase not Oracle so trying to think in Oracle's way of doing things was tough and many of the topics were new to me (Flashback, Merge, With clauses to name a few). All in all I'm glad I have done this and I have learned a great deal from it.

I took the exam today and passed it, my study mainly focused DDL, DML, data retrieval, restricting and sorting data, functions, group data, joins, subqueries and manipulating large data sets as those areas are relevant to my job. I scored 90% for this certification exa,e
I answers questions in the following area incorrectly:
define subqueries, list the data types that are available for columns, replacing patterns, regular expressions, use various datetime functions.

Is there a certification package available for having passed this exam?

What is included in this certification package? Please describe me, I never passed an Oracle exam.

In the certification package you get a member card, a printed certificate, a welcome letter with instructions to download the logo and to open an oracle account for certified members.
