Just installed Tomcat 6 on Ubuntu OS and when i try to access Tomcat6-admin i got 401 error. I have update the tomcat-user.xml with role, user name and password. I am still not able to access admin console. Any help on this appreciated.
You are not authorized to view this page. If you have not changed any configuration files, please examine the file conf/tomcat-users.xml in your installation. That file will contain the credentials to let you use this webapp.
You will need to add manager role to the config file listed above. For example:
The correct rolename is admin for the admin gui, manager is for tomcat manager. Also verify if you forgot to remove XML Comment markup in tomcat-users.xml file. As per your configuration, manager role is configured and you are trying to access admin pages.
