Cleared SCEA5 Part I with 95%

Hi Ranchers,

Finally its my time now. Today I cleared SCEA5 Part I with 95%.

I have over 7 years of design and development experience in Java & J2EE. I spent 3 weeks for preparation and it was sufficient. The study material I used are,

- Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for Java™ EE Study Guide(2nd Edition) - by Mark Cade & Humphrey Sheil
- Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software - by GOF
- Ramu Meda's notes (Join scea_j2ee group to get these)
- SCEA stories on WallOfFame
- J2EE Design Patterns
- Java certification success, Part 4: SCEA

Now it time for me to prepare for Part II(Assignment) and Part II(Essay Exam). Wish me luck.

Thanks Amandeep. Yes, I did few questionnaires. One in this ranch website and few others. Just google for and you should be able to find some. I do remember one from java champ web site.

Congrats. I have few queries for you.
I have completed my scjp5 and scwcd5 certification.
can you please tell me the exact portion for the SCEA part 1 exam? I dont have any knowledge in EJB's and i heard that there would be questions on EJB's in SCEA exam.
I have knowledge on few of the design patterns. Is it necessary that before doing SCEA do we have to complete SCBCD certification?
can you please guide me on this?

The full list of syllabus/topics of the SCEA part I are clearly stated at SCEA Part I certification and we no need to be expert in EJBs but we should have overall good understanding about whole J2EE platform/technologies. Please go through the above certification topics and you should be clear on what technologies are expected.

There is no pre-requisite certification required for SCEA. Though there is a mandatory classroom training program which we can take at any point of time and then only we will get SCEA certificates. Please check examination path here for complete list of trainings and exam parts to be a certified architect.

Hi and congratulation on getting through the first part.

You said in your last post that "there is a mandatory classroom training program which we can take at any point of time". Does it mean i can appear in the SCEA first part without taking the classroom training.

Yes, Waheed. Not just the first part, you can complete all 3 parts and then appear for training course.
