Hello, my boss asked me to solve a problem. I have two j2ee application on the same server, I have to generate a web application that would be like a "view container" to the other two applications. This web application would manage the loggin security to the other to applications and would have a menu where a user could chose to display one application or another. I know that I could use portlet, but I'm wondering if I could use an iframe with url pointing to one of the application at the time or the other. What I'm asking is not if this could be done or not... I think it could work with iframe, but is this something like a j2ee antipattern???

Hi,
To solve your issue you can use web services for this.

Hello, thank you for answer. Web service? do you mean I could use a web service to get an xml to be parsed on client browser? are you saying that because iframe is not a good way of doing it?

Hi,
I think iframe is also good but by using web service that will be more clear and manageable.

but do you all agreed that with web service there would be more work to do? with web service I would have to make a request to the server, the server would have to generate xml response and then on the client I would have to parse the response on the browser? If I use iframe I would have justa little work, don't you agree?
