Hi there,
I need to rent a web hosting for my website. I am wondering which is the best and cheapest for a beginner like me.
I have searched around the web and found the following candidates: InMotion, GoDaddy, HostGator, BlueHost, ...
My website runs anything but Java.
Please advise.
Thanks.

if your website consists of only HTML / images / PHP / MYSQL , do not go for paid hosting, go for free one

I have been using Hostgator and found it to be good. My main aim for going with Hosgator was for Rails support. I have heard BlueHost is also good. You can even have a look at Dreamhost.

I am going to start my online business, so I choose a paid service.

Thanks for your suggestion. I want to register the domain first, what would you suggest for domain registration?
Thanks.

For domain names I think NameCheap.com is good - good pricing and no issues so far

HostGator seems to be expensive, it charges me $15 for domain registration while others offer it for free.
What about InMotion? it sounds good with well-presented features and reasonable price.

For domain name registration use Namecheap
For hosting you can choose from- Hostgator, Bluehost, Dreamhost. But I use Hostgator and found it good and its got good reviews though its a bit expensive.

I suggest to see this top
http://thebesthostingweb.com
Hostgator is perfect for you, but not only.
This is a top of the best hosting companies based on guaranteed and tested stability of the servers, accessible prices, no intermediary companies, number of hosted domains, very positive feedbacks.
I hope this helps.

my friends,
I have another question: which way is better?
- register a domain separately with a registrar. Or:
- register a domain with a hosting service?
Thanks.

I think its better to keep both of them separate. You can keep changing the hosting service, while keeping your domain registrar same OR the vice-versa. I really dont know how easy/difficult it is to switch one of the service provider when you use the same for both.
Also you might not get good deals for domain name registration with a hosting service provider. Namecheap were into domain name service providing when I started but now they have started to provide hosting service as well.

Or you can try Swiss reliable hosting.
Price is certainly not for the novice web designer, but reliability and quality is guaranteed.
