Hi,

I found the following on Wikipedia;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Certified_Professional#Current_Versions_.28As_of_October_2011.29

So does this mean that SCJP/OCPJP for Java7 is out? I have studed for SCJP/OCPJP 6 but if there is a certification for Java 7 then I prefer to take that exam instead. What would be the best way for me to prepare myself SCJP/OCPJP 7?

Regards,

check this website: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=140#29
There are two ways of getting OCP 7 SE, either by passing OCA 7 SE or upgrading from SCJP 6. I thought about this a lot and decided to continue with SCJP 6 exam for the following reasons:
1. I don't like the scoring policy http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=138#2_6 and it's subject to change without notice.
2. There are no study materials "books" as of yet.
3. Exam topics not detailed enough, i might end up studying and putting a lot of time on topics that are not on the exam.
4. Too many questions to answer in 3 hours and it's subject to change without notice.
5. I would like to score high on the exam and due to the above i don't think i would be able to.

What i like about Java 7 SE is how Oracle broke it down to programmer I and II.

1z0-804 is still beta. Its not a good idea to skip OCPJP 6 for a beta exam. So you have two options- wait for the regular OCPJP 7 to come out or take the OCPJP 6. The beta exam will have more questions plus result will come out very late.

Just passed! OCA Java 7 SE Programmer 1. The test was not as difficult as the ePractize or Enthuware mock exams. The main difference was that the exam didnt have as many vague or trick questions as the mock exams. There were some tricky ones. You definitely need to watch for variables made to look like arrays. Switch statements were covered pretty heavily. There were a few outlyer questions I wasn't expecting. I thought thread safety was on the second exam, but there were two questions on there about it. Lots of exception handling also.

Looking forward to passing the 2nd exam.

There were no questions pertaining to the new exception format. There were a lot of questions about switch and the use of String. There was a question about "_" appearing in literals. Other than that, nothing special was on my test related to 7.
