How does one become Ranch Hand or Bartender?

I don't know if it's the right forum to ask my question.

I would want to know how,on JavaRanch, a member becomes RanchHand or Bartender; is there a system of points such that a member who initiates a thread can "grant" points to someone who has answered well to his question (to the question of the member who initiates a thread)?

See here for a description of all the titles, what they mean, and where they come from.

You'll need to be invited to become Bartender. Usually that happens because you're very helpful to other members, but that alone is no guarantee.

great big sums of cash given directly to Paul Wheaton also helps. and even GREATER sums given to me (most of which I would then funnel to Paul) wouldn't hurt either.

There are only two hard things in computer science: cache invalidation, naming things, and off-by-one errors
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
