Significance of titles e.g. Ranch Hand etc.

I don't know if it's explained anywhere on this site, but I was wondering about the significance of the various titles different individuals have.
I mean titles like Greenhorn, Ranch Hand, Saloon Keeper etc.
Obviously they imply some seniority, and I can see why I am a Greenhorn, but I wondered what they meant more specifically.
Do they imply certain qualifications, general programming experience, time spent working on this site or something else?
Or shouldn't I be asking?
Just wondered.

In fact I'd be happy if it were deleted altogether.
