interpreting icons on left side of topic list

Looked around for a FAQ or somesuch that might explain what the icons on the left side of the topic list mean, but didn't find one. I get that a "dim" folder means I'm caught up on the topic, and yellow means new messages, but there's other stuff--like a circle or a fire-burst looking thingy that have me scratching my head.

The circle means that the original poster thinks the issue is resolved - meaning it may not be worthwhile checking out the thread unless you're particularly interested in the subject.

The dot(s) mean(s) that one or more moderators thinks the topic is resolved.

The star-burst indicates a topic that has attracted a lot of posts recently (more than 30, if memory serves), so it could be quite interesting or controversial. This applies to most hot topics.

Some of the icons have tool-tips (e.g. the ones about the topic being resolved), but some of them don't. Perhaps we could improve on that.

I thought I looked there. Must not have scrolled down far enough. Or else the voices told me to ignore them.

At the bottom of each forum: yes. At the bottom of the Recent Topics list (where I spend a lot of time): no.

More likely the voices told you to ignore them. Mwaahaahaahaa
