Creating discussion forum in java

Hi,

I would like to create a discussion forum using Java and make it as a utility which could be plugged into any java based applications. What would be the most feasible Java based technology (applets, swing, jsp/servlet,XML, XSLT.....) to create a forum? I'm planning to use MySql database at backend. Considering database performance, code reusability, minimal UI design, could anyone please suggest a viable option?

It will be great if someone can share helpful sites(posts) with regard to forum creation.

Thanks,

JForum, JavaRanch uses JForum. Also please search first as this has been asked a lot of times before. (SearchFirst)
