Xslt for bordered text areas beside each other

hi all,

Can anyone tell me how to achieve two <fo:block> objects side by side? I actually don't think you can do this as the block will start a new line but if you can imagine a Word document with text inside two auto shapes side by side, this is what I hope to achieve in a pdf document. Is it possible to get two bordered areas containing side by side? I get of course create one but not the other beside it?
