I went to see the inflated Macys balloons tonight. I've done that before, but for once it wasn't too cold to take my gloves off and take some pictures. For new ones, I like the new Aflek duck (cute) and sonic's spikes. I've always liked the Energizer Bunny. And Kermit's frog legs provide a nice sense of scale.
Since it was only somewhat cold this year (instead of really cold) and I didn't need to leave early to visit, I went to see the parade in person with a friend.
I only took two pictures because it's hard to take them with gloves on and it is a long time to be standing outside. Here is Sonic with a tower behind him for scale. And the Macy's balloons to kick things off. I did stay until the end to see Kermit and Santa! Santa is higher up than I expected and easy to see. (We were on the rocks in Central Park - maybe 1/3-1/2 of a block in from the actual parade. But high up so a nice view. Especially of the balloons turning the corner.)
Jesper: I know you know what Thanksgiving is, but describing anyway. We give thanks for stealing the land from the Native Americans along with more practical things. And we celebrate commercialism (parade), eat a ton and celebrate commercialism more (Black Friday.) While I don't participate in shopping Black Friday I'm plenty tired of seeing ads for it.
