I came across a joke You know you are a New Yorker when "You pay $5 without blinking for a beer that cost the bar 28 cents. "
As someone who doesn't drink beer, I've never paid attention to how much beer costs elsewhere. At a bar, not a supermarket. Anyone want to share?

Blueberry Hill is one of the most famous bars in St. Louis. Their menu lists beers ranging from $3.25 (although I wouldn't call any of those three 'beer', but flavored water) to $6.75 for some import bottles.

In a bar, a normal beer usually costs between € 2 and € 3 here (about US$ 2.80 to US$ 4.20) in the Netherlands. In the supermarket it probably costs about half or a little less than that.

well you asked the right guy. it depends on where you buy it. here at a restaurant/bar $2 is a cheap price. myself i buy high gravity beer for $2 at the convenience store. these can range from 8% alcohol to 12%. the one i usually buy is 10%. so for 2$ i get 24oz of 10% = a six pack of 12oz regular beers.

I never took notes in college. That's how I got a 4.0 the first 2 years, and a 3.5 the second two years.

Germany: it's usually the cheapest drink in pubs at ca. 2.20€ ($3.00) for a 0.3 liter (10oz) glass and costs ~0,70€ ($0.90) per liter (1 quart) in the supermarket if you buy a box.

I hardly ever drink, so I have no idea what a beer costs in a bar. In a restaurant, it can wildly range from about $3.50 for national dreck to much more expensive for local micro-brews. There's a heavy German influence in Central Texas so there are a lot of good micro-breweries.

jeanne, almost any convenience store in texas, or the entire us for that matter. supermarkets don't generally sell them though(single 24oz high alcohol %). the last time i went to a tavern here in Austin they had 16oz regular beer for $2, but that was a few years ago, also it was on 6th street which is nothing but beer joints so there was plenty of competition.
