A minor, trivial, unimportant question of little consequence and no urgency:

Is there an option hidden somewhere within Eclipse Indigo for enabling alternating line shading, in a manner similar to that shown in many blog and forum formatting widgets?

I'm pretty sure there's not. You should write a plugin .
