First, let me say how happy I am that this site has continued for as long as it has. It has definitely helped me from both a personal and professional perspective.
Next, on to my question! I hold one of the really old Sun Certs, the Sun Certified Java Programmer for the 1.2 platform from back in 2001. I would like to upgrade to something that is a bit more current. I have done a bit of research and see that Oracle offers both an upgrade to 1.5 and 1.6 exam.
I have used Java continuously for the past decade so I was curious what the thoughts of others would be on this subject.
1. Which upgrade exam should I take? Upgrade to 1.5 or 1.6? I am sure most folks will be inclined to say 1.6 but I want to be sure I am ready for it with proper preparation. Would it be better for me to upgrade to 1.5 and then take the full-fledged 1.6 exam? Or, is there not much difference between 1.5 and 1.6 and I should just go for it?
2. Which book or books have been considered the "best" in terms of prepping, mock exams, etc. for someone like myself? I have noticed through searching that folks mention the "K&S Book" and that is all that is necessary. What book is this?
Many thanks in advance for your help!

Is this THE study resource I should use for the SJCP to 1.6 Update Exam?
