Hi Arulk,
First and foremost, be honest - integrity and trust are key traits that an architect needs to bring to the table.
I don't really look for anything in particular in a resume ( I don't have a template resume in my head ). I am looking for someone who has technical leadership experience, knows how to work with multiple groups, knows how to lead groups, understands estimating, is familiar with various methodologies, knows the technology stack for the position, ...
Apart from resume tips for aspiring architects,
- look for opportunities where you can assist an architect - get to know them - most likely they are swamped and will appreciate any help they can get.
- do excellent work - ask questions when you need help - but dig into the problem far enough that you know three solutions and have a recommended one.
- learn to go easy on the criticizing of others - as a tech lead - "showing off" your vast technical expertise can be fun - but it can turn people off when they are below you (relationships matter).
- consider if this is something you really want to do - the change in focus of what you do as an architect on a daily basis can be dramatically different from those who tech lead and/or develop most of the day.
