POI can't do that. You could try one of the commercial packages like Aspose (who frequently advertise on this site).

We can do it thru POI. Please see the link for reference http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-03-2004/jw-0322-poi.html . See below terminology heading POIFS point. There they given reading & writing ole objects possible using POIFS. But none of the poi documents giving the details for writing ole objects in excel.

Yes, POI can handle OLE objects internally. That doesn't mean it has an external API to lets you embed OLE objects in Excel files.
