Welcome to the JavaRanch!

Do you know about the mandatory course requirement you need since October 1, 2011 to pass this certification?

And if it's hard or not depends on several things: your knowledge, your development experience, the resources you use,... This forum is a great resource: you'll be able to find an answer on every possible answer you have. There is also an excellent book by Andrew Monkhouse and finally you can have a look at ScjdFaq for more info

Good luck!
