Hi All,

I have 5+ years exp in java. I want to take SCEA exam now. I have gone through the SCEA links and FAQ’s. Now I understood each topic has n number of books to refer.
I’m getting confused where to start.
I’m thinking of preparing as per the order of objectives; but each objective there are many books suggested for same topic.
Guys who are all took the exam studied and learned from all the books? In which case it takes very long time.

request your suggestion on how to approach properly for the preparation.(how to plan for the exam).

Where to start first? I’m totally disappointed.

Please help. I really appreciate your suggestions.

Regards,
Thangavel subban

Hi Thangavel,

As a first step, I would recommend you to start reading Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for Java EE Study Guide (2nd Edition. This will provide you very good context. For more information please do check my other thread.
If you have only beginner level of UML design knowledge, then I would recommend you to go through UML Distilled: A Brief Guide to the Standard Object Modeling Language (3rd Edition).

Also another thread on this books discussion is here.

Hope this information is useful for you.

Regards,
Sadanand

As you have only 5+ years for experience
First thing question yourself how much you are familiar with design, architecture and practical experience with advanced J2EE topics .
I would suggest first you identify which are the topics you need to improve then start reading those topics from tutorials/online/books.
SCEA books will not cover fundamentals/basics for all the topics.

Many Thanks for your very nice suggestions Sadanand and Murali Ranga.

Yes, As you guys said i need to test myself the familiarity with design ,architecture with J2EE topics.

I will refresh the basics first and comes back to you for more clarifications.
