Hello Ranchers,

I want to appear for OCP JP and now I come to know that prior to OCP JP 7 I need to clear OCJA.

So need your help ranchers to be ready to take OCJA.

Give me some details about how to approach OCJA?

Greetings,

The 'official' OCJA study guide will not be released until August 2012 (at least that is what Amazon is stating). So I am using the SCJA book since most of the topics covered should be the same. If anyone else knows of a better way to prepare for this test, please respond to this thread.....we would hate to waste hundreds of dollars on this test when we could have been better prepared.

My main concentration is for the SCJA exam ....... so will the old documentation help get me where I want to be? I have ordered the new documentation for the Programmer exam since that is the next exam on my list. I passed the SCJP 2 exam way back in the stone age, but it is no longer relevant.

I just don't want to blow several hundred dollars when I could have spend much fewer dollars in preparation. I would love to hear from those that actually passed the new OCJA exam recently.

From your post, it is not clear why you want do this certification. If you have already passed SCJP 2 (doesn't matter how long ago), you don't need to take the SCJA/OCJA/SCJP/OCPJP exam (any version) at all if all you want do is take higher certifications such as JSP/Servlet or EJB.

HTH,
Paul

I want to refresh all of my certifications. I don't have a college degree, so these certifications are a big help during interviews.......even with my 16 years of Java experience.

I agree with Paul,

Forget about the SCJA - it's NOT really for programmers. Do the OCA/OCP if you want to, but move into the EE stuff, the developer's exam and the architect's exam.

I agree with the other posters about skipping the OCJA exam.....I just want to use it as a warm up to how Oracle is administering the exams......
