hi,
I am from India, am java developer with 2 years experience. Since last 1 year, I am working on middleware technologies. I want to make a career in this domain itself. I know DDS, JMS ( beginner level). I don't know whether I would get any better jobs in Java Middleware in India or not. I think, I am getting lost in the uncertainity about the future.. Please guide as to what all I can do to make my career better.. I don't want to work on Java Web Development, as it doesn't look that exciting to me as java middleware technologies.
Thanks

That's a perfectly legitimate choice for a job. You'd be a specialist in a technology. Consulting companies or vendors often look for specialists.

I agree. There are many middleware companies who extensively use Java for their products. You can try them. Many have offices in India, including leaders like Tibco and Webmethods

hi all,
I need some urgent guidance regarding the choice between java web development and java messaging.. Suppose if I switch to JMS, is there any chance of getting jobs in India? Is it easy or hard to find a job in JMS or any other messaging framework, in India? Right now I am in real dilemma, I am getting calls from some big MNC's for jobs in Java Web Development. I don't have to switch job right away, as my current job will keep my hands full for coming few months at least...
But I want to get a fix on what I should be doing now. If I can get jobs in Java Messaging without much trouble in India, then I will simply wait for right opportunity, or else I will have to try my luck with offers from these companies..
Please guide. I have got interview calls from two major software firms..
Thanks

Middleware technologies and tools are best learned on the real job where there is a middleware product.
While acquiring your skills in middleware you can keep your knowledge current in other Java/JEE related technologies and sought-after frameworks through self-study.
