Dear All,

Am facing a problem in displaying a list items (ie) when am selecting a state of a country it should list out the the cities of that corresponding state. In my program this is perfectly working with Firefox and other browsers but not in Internet Explorer. In Internet Explorer it displays an empty list when i select a state. I cant understand where the problem is , firefox shows it correctly but why not in IE. Can anyone suggest idea to solve this.

Thanks in Advance.

Regards,
Sabi.

Without knowing how you are doing this right now, there's no way to tell you what the problem might be.

This sounds like a problem which could be done using ajax, and ajax calls need to be coded differently in IE and other browsers. If you are indeed doing this using ajax, then you could look into a solution which works cross-browser, like the jQuery javascript library.

Wow, thats some seriously old code you're looking at there!

Anyway. Maybe try using your application with the IE using compatibility mode and see if that changes anything. Else you should check if the ajax calls actually arrive at your other JSPs (add some debug statements). If they don't, you know that you have to update the calling code.

The compatibility is not showing as you said and in other jsp pages i can get values of it. Even when i choose the state the console shows me all the cities of that state but in IE its not showing out.

Hmm, if you're sure that the ajax call is getting to the jsp, and that you're getting results (if you haven't, make sure of that; create some other element like a hidden input field and write the results into it to inspect the value of that field with IE developer tools). Then there's only the javascript that writes the results which can be the cause of your problem. I did a quick search on google and found some articles hinting that there might be problems with innerHtml in IE. Maybe check in that direction...sorry, I have no other ideas to help you here.
