JSF2 error handling

Hi. I'm successfully using the method described here to catch errors in a JSF2 application. But one issue is still unresolved. When an error is thrown, I'm sending the users back to the home page. This works fine. But what I'd like to do is invalidate their session, and let them know we're having technical difficulties. Is there a way to do that?

Thanks!

Render a composite component to be displayed for in case of error message, then invalidate your session. Have your home page link on that composite component with error message you wanted to convey the user to know.

Invalidating a session on error is a bit extreme. Aside from everything else, it will log out the user, if the app is using standard J2EE security. And for that matter, most DIY security schemes as well.

One of the most odious afflictions that Business has inflicted on the modern English language is "pro-active". Most of the time it's simply redundantly used in place of the simple old word "active". And a good deal of the rest of the time it means "You're not overworked enough yet, so go out and find more!"
