hi all,
I need some urgent guidance regarding the choice between java web development and java messaging.. Suppose if I switch to JMS, is there any chance of getting jobs in India? Is it easy or hard to find a job in JMS or any other messaging framework, in India? Right now I am in real dilemma, I am getting calls from some big MNC's for jobs in Java Web Development. I don't have to switch job right away, as my current job will keep my hands full for coming few months at least...
But I want to get a fix on what I should be doing now. If I can get jobs in Java Messaging without much trouble in India, then I will simply wait for right opportunity, or else I will have to try my luck with offers from these companies..
Please guide
Thanks

"switch to JMS"? JMS is but a small part of any development job, there is no such thing as a "job in JMS", or in "messaging" for that matter. You will always need lots of other skills as well.
But you didn't even say why you are contemplating a job switch, so we can't advise anyway.

Sorry, that part I had mentioned in another thread.. Okay, I will mention it here. For the last 8 months, I am working on a DDS technology ( which is an M.O.M technology), JMS also looks similar to this only. So, currently I am indeed working on Messaging Domain.. I find these middleware techologies more exciting than the web development side.. So, I wanted to know if I can have a career in this domain or I may have to switch back to web development after sometime. I am looking at long term perspective, not next 5 years but 10 years or more..
Thanks.

Impossible to say; the tech field is too fast-moving to make predictions that far out. Be prepared to learn constantly, and you should be fine.

So, should I take whichever job profile comes in the way, rather than being selective? And for short term, is selective domain selection beneficial?
The skill or ability to write code using the Java Message Service (JMS) is not different than the skill or ability to write code using the Simple API for XML (SAX).
The skill or ability is the same. The API is different, that is all. To believe that these are different skills or abilities is bit goofy, in my opinion.
