I am a java developer with about 1.5 yrs experience in Java development. Mostly it has been core java 5 experience.
I have worked on a project that used spring MVC and Hibernate but I did not have any idea about these concepts in details and just used as per some documentation available and some help from others.
As a part of personal development I wish to learn Java EE technologies like Spring and also ORM technologies like Hibernate. But I do not know if there are any recognized certification exams for this. Also would giving SCJP certification exam add any value to my profile in industry?
Can someone guide me on this? Please suggest how should I go about this so that I can learn these technologies along with adding value to myself and then showcasing them.
Did you check on the internet if certifications are available?
Certifications exist for everything !!! Java, Spring etc etc...
I enjoy preparing for certifications as I can measure myself against a milestone. But learning is such a personal thing ! There are thousands of Java pundits who have never got certified but still are the best in their fields... There are also thousands of so called certified professionals who fumble the basics !
Having said that, I would like to take up OCPJP first just because that tests your Java language knowledge - the basics. After all we want to be able to write good and correct programs. In the process of preparation, you gain knowledge of important OOP concepts. After that, I would go step by step with whatever interests me next.
All the best !
SCJP 5, OCPJP7, OCMJEA 5
