ireport group by in table component

Hi,

I need to group the data by a particular field in the table component in ireport. The main report has an option of a <group> element, is there something like that for the table component as well? Just for the record, I am using a JavaBean DataSource for populating the report.

Is there anybody here who has been working on similar lines? Please Help, this is a little urgent.

I almost hit a dead end and haven't been able to find a solution for the same.

For this requirement I had to completely eliminate the table component and map fields directly in the detail band. It works fine but has a lot of issues when the data overflows and the detail band splits over pages.

In case somebody knows an efficient solution to the same, please help.
