I am new to Tomcat and also to my current role and we are having problems with a Tomcat installation which keeps crashing. Due the nature of the site I work at we cannot really download and run crash analysers or other such tools on site due to security . and was looking for any help with where / how to find out what my might be causing the crash . It is running on IBM AIX 5.3 , and Tomcat 6 .
It could be the configuration , which is mostly the default configuration and could just need modification , we think it is a memory leek of some kind
I am going through some on line docs and searching for certain key words in the core dump files , but I am coming up blank so far..
The type of error seems to indicate that it originates from native code. The cause seems to be an OutOfMemoryError. Later on I see 1STHEAPFREE Bytes of Heap Space Free: 0 and 1STHEAPALLOC Bytes of Heap Space Allocated: 4000000 which seems to confirm the cause is a memory issue. There are then two possibilities:
1) Your application has a memory leak. You'll need to use a profiler to check this.
2) Your application simply requires more memory than available. You'll need to let Tomcat have more memory.
