I want to build a chat engine using xmpp. It'll be a great help if someone could help me where to start with or guide me? or get me some study material?
Thanks

In your duplicate post, which has been removed, you stated that you had already googled for information. So what did you not find? What specific information is missing? Please ShowSomeEffort in asking specific questions.

This is what exactly I found :
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5362113/how-does-google-talk-work
http://technophiliac.wordpress.com/2008/05/28/ever-wondered-how-gmailfacebook-chat-works/

I came to know that it can be done using xmpp. But do I need to follow some book or is there any other way to get a better grip on to the topic that can help me design a chat engine.
Thanks
