hey all,

so i'm looking to do a career change and mobile app developer is the job that i want. However, i'm not sure exactly which computing degree is best for this field. I was hoping some people with experience in the industry could point me in the right direction. Their are so many different university courses and titles that its hard to know which one is best.

thanks for all of your help.

Are you asking which degree to obtain, or which courses to take?

You're not going to find a degree like Bachelor of Science in iPhone Programming.

Which degree to obtain, so the one that has the mobile developer courses included in it.

You don't get a degree if you're looking for vocational training. You get a degree to understand the theory which you can then apply in certain areas. You probably want a CS or Engineering degree and spend your spare time writing mobile apps. Or skip the degree and write code.

Cheers!

White mobile apps. Publish them to the app store. You don't need a degree to write many mobile apps; not theory heavy.

I dont think any one could come up with a degree that covers mobile programming without having it become outdated quickly. There are tons of new APIs and vendors that crop up all the time. A more low level degree like engineering would help.

Jeanne's suggestion to write apps for the app store (any app store not just the iphone) is pragmatic.

Actually you can become a mobile app developer without any appropriate degree. You can learn yourself and there are many developers I have seen who haven't any degree. But if you know appropriate degree, so you can do Computer science and select mobile app subject and other way is that you can also join private courses.
