I am a mechanical engineering graduate and would like to pursue career as a java developer but its been a year now after I have been out of my college so planning to apply as a fresher.I just have the basic java knowledge but I was quite confident til I saw EJB,JSF.... etc features and lost motivation to even think of taking up java. The worst part is we moved to USA now and I heard people put up fake experience to get a job here which I can never do.In India I was into market research but here an MBA degree is a must to apply for those kind of jobs.I am completely confused.

Don't be overwhelmed by ever growing acronyms like JSF, etc. Learn the fundamentals and understand the key areas. Get an entry level position, things will fall into place.

I was a mechanical engineer too (12 years ago).
