How to set the User data source properties through code?

in my previous application i was using MSSQL 2005 as an backend for my application, for the connectivity purpose i have used jdbc/odbc and for connection i have to do following things..
1. I need to create a new User Data Source
2. then I need to select the Driver which i have selected SQLServer
3. I need to give it a name, description etc
all i wanted to ask is how can i set this all details programatically? if yes how ?

com.dbaccess.BasicDataSource ds =
    new com.dbaccess.BasicDataSource();//whether it is a custom type or a Java class from J2SE API
ds.setServerName("grinder");
ds.setDatabaseName("CUSTOMER_ACCOUNTS");
ds.setDescription(
    "Customer accounts database for billing");

can any one explain me a how I can achieve this ?
