Unable to edit netbeans.conf

Hi there ,
I tried to change the default java platform by changing the variable netbeans_jdkhome in netbeans.conf . But when I try to save the changes , it displays a message that the file is opened in another program .
I have deleted all the previous related environment variables , still the same message. I even restarted the laptop , checked the open applications , closed all of them but all in vain still the same annoying message.

I restarted the laptop 5 times and it's funny, now I able to save the changes . This is strange.

Was a virus scanner possibly accessing the file? I have that happen at times. (I'm assuming that you didn't try to edit the file in NetBeans... ;-) )

Try this app, it'll unlock the file and let you edit it if it happens again: http://emcosoftware.com/unlock-it

might be possible but as far as I know my virus scanner is out of date and it doesn't do anything than occupying space on hard-disk.
Thinking of shifting over to Ubuntu or Fedora. Any suggestions about that ?

No , I didn't try anything like that.
