i have the following code to display date and time in a JLabel.

i want to, for example, add 2 hours to this and redisplay it. then add another hour(or whatever) later. i couldn't find anything about that in tutorial

Check out java.util.Calendar for anything related to date/time calculations.

A lot of people also recommend Joda-Time, but that's a third party library. It may, in its current or modified form, end up in Java (8 or later) though, as there have been discussions about that already by people that don't like Date and Calendar.
