Java Developers

(5 Openings, Jr. - Mid Level)

Location: Rockville, MD; Orlando, FL; Fairmont, WV

Pay Rate: Negotiable

Position Type: 6 month Contract



Candidates must be US Citizens and able to pass criminal background and credit history check




Responsibilities include:

· Developing custom software and tools

· Integration testing, debugging, fixing software as part of early software integration test

· Supporting the implementation, release, test and acceptance testing of the final implementation

The development environment will utilize Linux workstations and servers with test interfaces with the primary development language being Java.


Requirements

· 1 -5 years of professional experience ( 5 years is the maximum)

· Proficient in JEE and web services development with experience in each of the following: Java v5, EJB v3 and JBoss.

· Ability to design /develop interfaces to, and integrate COTS products

· Hands-on integration of Linux/Unix-based systems

· Experience with model driven software design and development

· Experience with full life cycle software development (design, development, unit test and software integration test)

· Excellent communication skills

· Ability to qualify for an FBI Limited Background Investigation or a DOD Secret



Desired

· Biometric system development, preferably large-scale systems.

· JMS, JAX-WS (SOAP based Web Services), Eclipse IDE, Hibernate/JPA, ActiveVOS/BPEL

· Rational Tool Suite (ClearCase/ClearQuest)

· Hands-on familiarity with Lockheed Martin process and procedures is highly desirable.







JAVA Developer

(5 Openings)

Work Location: Springfield, VA

Pay Rate: up to $135k + benefits

Position Type: Direct Hire



Must be a US Citizen as required by the Government contract

Must be able to pass criminal background and credit history check



***ALTA will process a DHS Secret Clearance; May take 8 – 16 weeks to Process Clearance***





Description & Responsibilities

· The developer analyzes requirements and develops detailed design specifications, develops block diagrams and logic flowcharts, and translates detailed designs to computer programs.

· Codes, tests, debugs, and refines new software or makes enhancements to existing programs to produce the required product.

· Developers must be able to participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other developers.

· Design and develop software codes within established specifications using object oriented applications, languages and third party tools.

· Design, revise and maintain flow charts setting out code functions and classes as assigned.

· Test software for bugs and clean the code.

· Write testing scripts to operate and test all elements of programs.

· Review results and make necessary changes.

· Attempt to replicate problems, determine causes and fix codes to eliminate recurrence of problems.

· Integrate codes with portions of software package developed by other team members.

· Ensure that all development efforts are integrated so that code is readily readable and maintainable by other team members.

· Research new methods, libraries and tool versions.

· Assist in the mentorship of new developers and able to provide guidance on project standards.



Skills & Experience

· Core Java Programming Knowledge (qualified by topics covered in the Sun Java Programmer Certificate)

· Object Oriented Design Concepts

· Key Design Patterns (Gang of Four)

· Spring MVC or Struts

· Java Coding Standards (we use Element of Java Style, Scott Ambler)

· XML

· JDBC The ability to acquire a majority of the skills listed below in a timely manner is integral to future career growth. Additional skills and applicable technologies utilized by most projects are as follows:

· WebSphere MQ Series

· Java Messaging Service (JMS)

· Spring Framework (Dependency Injection,

· XSD Schema Definition

· Hibernate

· JSR 168 Portlets Minimum education requirement

· Experience with independent programming, including responsibility for software development projects and/or demonstrated programming team leadership is preferred.

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.

· Sun Certified Java Programmer Certificate (SCJP) is highly recommended







Java Developer

Java Developers

(3 Openings)

Location: Washington, DC

Pay Rate: 90-110k

Position Type: Permanent, following 6 month contract with ALTA, must become permanent



Candidates must be at least a permanent resident or green card holder and be able to pass a credit/criminal background check.

Duties include supporting the legacy Linux/Java/Informix production environment, with the opportunity to move to developing components for the next generation application. Specific technical duties could include:

· Develop and modify Web Services to exchange data between applications and database systems.

· Develop Java web apps for a SOA-based Case Management system under a SEAM framework.

· Review enhancement requests and develop solutions to meet those requirements

· Resolve production issues impacting a national application serving 8,000 US Courts employees

· Review new requirements and develop designs and solutions to meet those requirements, and integrate applications with other applications

· Actively participate in daily Scrums for the Agile development of the next generation of the case management system

· Interact daily with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders

· Write design documents and other material

· Deliver formal and informal presentations to colleagues, customers, and stakeholders

Requirements

· Comfortable working in an Agile development environment that uses Scrum techniques.

· Good technical assessment/analysis skills to assess issues and contribute to team technical discussions

· Must have at least 5 years demonstrated experience with:
- Java (strong)
- SQL development
- Linux
- Knowledge of JBoss
- Knowledge of SOA
- Knowledge of SEAM
- Web-based development







Java Developer



Work locations are at client sites in Northern, VA and occasionally DC

90-120k D.o.e. + benefits

Our ideal Java Developer is a thought leader who is open to new ideas, has a desire to learn new concepts and is willing to collaborate with others on projects. You must also be able to present technical ideas and high-level concepts and solutions to internal and external teams who may not have IT backgrounds



Requirements

· Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science, Mathematics or similar field preferred

· Minimum 4 years Java SE and/or EE design, development and deployment experience required; consulting experience preferred; JPA, Spring, JSF and/or content management experience a plus

· Strong background with database technologies, including major SQL databases such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, NoSQL and/or DB2

· Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen

· Ability to travel to client locations as needed

· Oracle Programmer, Web Component or Business Component Developer certification preferred

· Working knowledge of Weblogic, Websphere and/or JBoss along with ancillary technologies and tools such as portal/portlet development, BPM, integration, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, UNIX, Windows, scripting languages, rules engines, point of sale and/or UML preferred

· Must possess superb communication and presentation skills as well as strong technical documentation skills.

· Experience with Hibernate is huge plus
