Hi
how does one go about setting up log 4j for an entire domain/container or all the applications in a domain/container.

I have sorted this out. For glassfish add path for log.xml to .../domains/domain/config.log4j.xml and then add this to server config that you can do on the admin console via JVM settings. Restart. Add configureWatch() using a servlet context listener to a web app and deploy. This will pick up change in the intreval you specify. Deploy other apps and they will by default use this.
