Hello, does anyone know when 1Z0-804 Java SE 7 Programmer II (not beta version) will come out? The 1Z0-803 Java SE 7 Programmer I is out, but this is still beta version right?

The reason why I am asking this question is following; I have prepared for SCJP6 certification, however I do not know if now it is so close that I better give SE7 Programmer I then Programmer II certification rather then SCJP6 then upgrade for SE 7 Programmer II. Also I do not wish to give beta exams.

Hi Semyon Evsei,
Welcome to CodeRanch!
The best answer you'll get on this from Oracle itself. They are the authority
Now, about your certification choice: I would suggest below approach:
JDK 7 is the current thing. So, if you have time and money, by all means, go for OCPJA followed by OCPJP (i.e. OCPJP part 1 and 2). But if you don't have time/money right now (say, you are looking for a job and need a certification to put on your resume), then you can go for OCPJP version 6.
Currently, OCPJP part II is in beta stage, so if you want that latest certification, you anyway have to do one certification before it. So:
1) Do OCPJP 6 and then upgrade to OCPJP 7, or forget altogether about it (e.g. I've done SCJP 6 and I'm not going for OCPJP 7 )
2) Go for OCPJP 7 part I, and in the meantime, Oracle would release non-beta version for part II, so you can take it later on.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. Are there any good books for OCPJP 7 part I and part II? I checked some post here and there seem not to be a real book although I did find mock exams. I have found the topics covered by OCPJP 7 part 1 here, can I at least study these topics (OCPJP 7 Part I) from my SCJP6 book? Or it is not that simple?

If you compare the java 6 objectives to the java 7 objectives you can see where they are the same and where they are different. A LOT of the objectives for java 6 were moved to the OCA exam. You will also notice that for the java 7 OCP exam there are a LOT of new objectives: NIO, JDBC and java.util.concurrent being the major new topics, and project coin and localization being new, but not as major.
