so you see a menu item called "frank" you find it in the resource fille called MENU_FRANK, so you search high and low for where MENU_FRANK is used, and nowhere uses it, but you damn well know it is used as the menu item is appearing.
of course you forgot to search for FRANK as of course the menu code knows to add the MENU_ at the start AGGGGHHHHHHHH
Mangel like mangelwurzel? I hate code that turns everything into root vegetables! On the other hand, it seems you're ranting against software that acts like it knows what you want to do better than you do. Like when you want to highlight part of a sentence in Word, or (Og forbid) part of a single word) and no matter how deftly you move your mouse, Word officiously highlights more than you wanted. I end up having to paste things into Notepad, and then recopying the part that I actually wanted. I'm sure there's a setting somewhere, but I've searched the menus for, "Stop helping me dammit!" and haven't found the toggle yet.
mangel like the big old thing for wringing washing out, ok mangle is the correct spelling.

The Paperclip thing (or that horrible cartoon dog creature) just made it worse by rubbing it in. "It looks like you're having trouble marking text. I've fixed it for you." Turning off the dog character just made him stand up and walk away, which was totally uncathartic. Somebody should have added a "Violently" checkbox to that "Turn Off" option. I would have paid extra.
@Wendy -- I've never heard of a laundry mangle. I would have just called it a laundry roller. No wonder they couldn't sell many and were forced to invent washing machines. What was their slogan? "Still going down to the river to beat your clothes clean on a rock? Now you can Mangle™ it instead!"

that is the sort of thing, being able to search for text is very important, when you don't have the faintest idea where to start your search.
it turns out the class to define a menu was called Finance, such an obvious name for a menu gnerator class.well it does define the finance menu....
