Hi friends,
I have not taken any certification exam till date. So please be patient with my dumb questions.

I want to know whether SCJP certification is still available or is it now known as OCPJP and theres no more SCJP?
Also there used to be SCJP 1.5(310-056) but I didnt find any OCPJP(CX-310-056). Does that mean there are now no more exams available for java 1.5. I am saying this because OCPJP(CX-310-065) is available which seems to me the same as SCJP 1.6(310-065). I also came to know that before giving OCPJP one needs to take exam on OCAJP.......it will be compulsory unlike SCJP where one need not take SCJA exam.

I want to take an exam on Java 1.6 as I am studying this for the past couple of months.....I want to know the right exam for this and it will be very helpful if someone can provide me a link where I can find all the details on this exam.

Yes. Since Oracle has bought SUN, SCJP is now OCPJP.

No. Its just that exam codes are different for Oracle certifications than SUN certifications. OCPJP 1.5 still exists (I don't know why), but I do not see any logic to go for version which is already outdated a long time back.

Yes, that is true. You need to go for OCAJP in case you are going for OCPJP version 7. For version 6, there's no need of any prior certification.

Well, if you have time and money, I would suggest to take slightly longer path of OCAJP + OCPJP 7. The reason being, you would be having certification of latest version of Java. Secondly, there are some new topics like JDBC in OCPJP7 which are not there in OCPJP6.

I hope this helps.
