Confused About Decorator Pattern With Respect to Filter Wrappers

Hi,
I am on this topic for over past two days scratching my head trying to apply decorator pattern on the example given in HFJS
in filters chapters about compression a response stream by writing a filter. Decorator pattern applies a concept of a component,
then a concrete component, then a decorator comes into picture and then the concrete decorator. Can someone explain me in an
elaborate way how we can apply decorator pattern to the example given in HFJS. I am very confused over it.
