Does java 7 address any of the features from ehCache/big memory?
Many frameworks suggest using direct buffering to overcome jvm limitations, what does new java say about it?

Sorry, but Java 7 does not address those types of features. I am not aware of any feature in Java 7 that might provide similar capabilities.

http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/nio/ByteBuffer.html includes paragraph "Direct vs. non-direct buffers". It is rather old feature, so you probably has in mind something other when talking about "direct buffering". What exactly did you mean?

What "JVM limitation" are you referring to, specifically?
