Hi,

I want to send pop up message (alert message ) from one computer to a group of computers in the same domain.
I will provide a list of employee IDs as input & the output will be the pop up message to the machines connected to the employee IDs.

Can anybody suggest me the solution approach in java to the problem statement above.
Note: I have tried widows "msg" command.

I changed the registry setting as "allowrpc=1" in the destination windows7 machines.
& tried sending message with the command below .

> msg /server:<IPAddress> <employeeId> <message>
or
> msg /server:<MachineName> <employeeId> <message>

It's saying "<employeeid> does not exist or disconnected" in the windows command prompt

Note : Please suggest me also how to get the IP address from the employee Id given.

I think you'll have to maintain an index of which IDs belong to which hosts/IPs. You could manually create a properties file (see java.util.Properties). It would be fancier to have a centralized directory that was automatically updated (e.g. as users login), but I don't know if Windows already offers such services built-in. You could build a central directory system yourself, but that's a bigger client/server project.
