How often CVS code becomes a release?

I don't know how to sync with CVS anyway. And where is it. Could you clarify how to fetch the CVS snapshot, Rafael?

1) Create a login at http://java.net
2) Go to https://jforum.dev.java.net/source/browse/jforum/. There you will find explanation about how to fetch the source from CVS.

OK, I'll do that

One more Q: does jforum.net always run latest CVS or release? If it's release, do you have any other public testbed?

Not always. I put here the changes that are important, like the avatar problem, for example, or some problem with the search of security issue.
Sometimes I keep minor changes away from jforum.net until next public release.

But I'll try to keep jforum.net up to date.
