Hi friends, I am looking for a java forum to setup a forum and make it can visit in flash and html at the same time. the target is integration to my existing website www.earthplayer.com, of course make it open source after I complete it. And the architect I think spring+flex+hibernate is OK to me. happy found that jforum is tend to use the same architect.

it is better to define the service interface instead of do all things at XXXaction like jforum2, so that I can easy to integrate to view present in flex

Now I want to know when will it release , any news?!

As John Carmack used to say, it will be done when it's done.

The architecture is not that simple - at least, done in such a way to avoid the problems we have with the current version.

Hi,

Today I was seeking about Forum solutions, to implement in my company for internal use. I found JForum and I think that is a great solution.

My problem is that, we usually works with WebSphere and iSeries, I read about the version 2.x in the forum and DB2 isn't supported, but the future version 3, works with hibernate, and it have a dialect to connect with my loved DB2 on iSeries .

I don't tested the software yet, but I think I will installed it with HSQLDB, and when the version 3 is ready, I will install it with DB2.

I offer my help to test the compatibility of JForum with WebSphere and DB2 on iSeries. Also I have JBoss, Oracle and SQL Server to make some tests if will necessary.

If is it possible, I would to know and approximate time for a installable version (3 month, 6 month, 1 year), I work in a software developer company and know that sometimes is difficult to predict dates, but maybe an estimated it can be possible.

Regards,
Dani

I can appreciate this is difficult to gauge. I'm VERY interested in this new architecture and especially the spring integration. I would love to help and test.

Do you have a page that shows where this project is at in the development cycle? (probably not since you're super busy )

edit: oh and I donated ;) Not to toot my own horn but to inspire others to do this as well. I write software on the side too and it's VERY hard to do this along with your paying job!

Hi;
now that 2.1.8 is out of the oven is it safe to assume that development efforts are focused on jforum 3? or is there another 2.1.x version.

also, if the first option is true, is there a more concrete time line for some kind of an initial release?
thanks in advance.

Yes, development if focused on jforum3. The code is at http://svn.jforum.net:443/jforum/trunk, but it's under big refactorings every day.

Hi Rafael,

Like many users we'd like so much to have an estimated time for the first JForum3 release.. But even if you can't (or don't want) to answer, could you say us how many people are currently involved in JForum3 dev?

I ask that because you seem to be the only commiter in current svn.. but note that it was mostly the case with Jforum2 and it was a great product!

Yes, a lot of progress. Forums listing, topic listing, post listing, replying and quoting, as well login / logout and half of the admin panel are already working, with basic functionality.

You can follow the changes at

http://fisheye2.cenqua.com/browse/jforum/

and

It is good for a beta release for a couple of weeks already. I just have to get enough time to update the website and the documentation.
