this is a weird one.

we have tomcat 5.5, mysql 4.1. jforum 2.1.7

works fine on our windows workstations
but when we deploy to linux server we get mostly correct behaviour
but the characters ő ű in lower and uppercase work fine in post titles but revert to '?'
in post bodies.

any ideas anyone ?

what database did you use?
I am using mysql. initially i also face this problem. Multi-language postes can not be shown correctly.
just change my.cnf file.
[mysql]
default-character-set=utf8

# The default character set that will be used when a new schema or table is
# created and no character set is defined
default-character-set=utf8

then it would ok shortly.

BTW: i guess this is not bug for jforum.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
