Anonymous posting is defaulted to on?

OK... I saw some ways I could improve upon jforum, but this one decision here makes me wonder what else is in here... :-/

I've searched and found so many problem posts, yet in 2.1.8 you still have anonymous posting? Also, I've seen it only on replies, not on new posts, and only in certain forums that have been created.

Extremely worrying.

Just turn off anonymous posting / remove it / default off. Seriously.

Admin Panel -> Groups -> Permissions -> Anonymous posts

Check if "Anonymous" is in the "General" group (Admin -> Users -> Groups)

Admin Panel -> Users -> [search for Anonymous] -> Permissions and revoke all its access rights.

This should be an 'allow anonymous postings'. For two reasons. Preferences should default to sane values. Preferences should be worded positively. So either 'require users to register' or 'allow anonymous postings'. Never the negative.

This really shook me up - especially since it has been covered on the forum so many times.

Can create sticky or announcement topics defaults to yes...

At least it is worded positively, however, I think it should be false...

Cannot moderate these forums
Deny anonymous posts
Restricted Forums
Restricted Categories

Should be:

Can moderate these forums [allow all, etc]
Can post anonymously
Allowed forums
Allowed categories

-- word them positively, seeing 'deny anonymous posts' and 'allow all' is counter intuitive!

=) I will look at the prefs in JForum3
