java.io.EOFException

i have developed website using java1.4, tomcat5 and mysql5 on windows server. its working fine, but i have hosted it in linux server its showing when i try to login java.io.EOFException. i dont know how to solve this problem please help me to solve this issue. my connection program is


public class DBConnection
{
public static Connection conn = null;
public DBConnection()
{
}

public static Connection getConnection() throws Exception
{
try
{
Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver").newInstance();
conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://server/database?user=username&password=xxxx");

}

catch(Exception e)
{
System.out.println(e);
}

return conn;
}

Please help.
