I'm trying to get the latest sources from CVS, I get many problems, connection refused, waiting for a lock, connection timeout etc.

Is there a problem right now or is the problem on my side?

I get blocked with the following error

cvs checkout: [22:50:44] waiting for unknown's lock in /cvs/CVSROOT

The CVS server is hosted by java.net which has a lot of known problems... that's why Jforum3's repository is now http://jforum.googlecode.com/svn/.

FWIW, I don't think there has been any checkins since the last source zip for 2.1.8 was made. So, I'd just use that. You can check for changes via the CVS web browser if you want.

Another possible problem is that if you're trying to use Eclipse, it's CVS client will try to list ALL the modules in the java.net repository. This can take HOURS and may be the cause of the problem. Try doing the pull via a command line cvs client that can jump straight to the jforum code module without having to deal with all the other stuff.

Apparently it was a bug on the cvs server, it worked today.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
